We’ve been struck by the 80’s vibe! In this year’s Autumn Collection, Phobia present a brand new range of must-haves clearly inspired by the past, yet featuring on-trend approaches and powerful designs that reach far into the future.
This collection has come up with completely new ways to explore the possibilities within the silhouette. With the assertive shoulder profiles of the 1980’s, plenty of width and clean-cut shapes, Phobia have prepared the ground for seriously potent power dressing. Concurrently, more feminine and airy shapes come forward to offer fantastic contrasts, further extending the concept of ‘balloon effects’ to take in the new and trend-setting style of ‘cocooning’ – i.e. creating a silhouette which provides both a protective, oversize chrysalis and a casual, liberating shape. The resulting collection succeeds in paying homage to feminine lines while adding masculine power to the cleaner-cut designs, all the time ensuring that spot-on trends are firmly embedded in the silhouette outline itself.
The start of the autumn season offers oversized cardigans in patterned knits, perfectly styled with a small top and a slim-fit pair of jeans. Short jackets – very precisely cut at the waist – are worn over longer t-shirts, low-cut tops with draped necklines or light dresses in fine materials. Shirts embellished with razor-sharp graphics as all-over embroidery as well as cocoon-line tops and dresses work just as well matched with denim leggings and stilettos as with a pair of washed-out denim jeans. The finishing touch to the autumn look is achieved by adding a waistcoat, either in a casual cable-knit or an oversize jersey style.
With the darker skies of autumn, a palette of deep colours is set to follow, where bright hues of summer tone down into more muted, but highly saturated shades. The glowing coral of summer is softened by freshwater ochre, pale lilac turns into dark purple, while clear ocean blues surge into bottle green and a lovely petrol blue. Black and off-white are mixed with darker versions of grey, while odd glimpses of curry gold produce a strong contrast to the entire autumn palette.
Phobia’s collections continue to focus on quality materials which reinforce both designs and shapes. The oversized ‘boyfriend blazer’ with turn-ups on the shortened sleeves is cut from piecegoods with snakeskin-inspired prints and a shiny finish. Sweat material has been used for dresses, available both in a sporty, hooded version with trendy zip detailing and in a double-breasted style with lapels inspired by the classic jacket shape. The jeans collection features zip details, triangular gussets and distinctive washes for an authentic, worn look or a special black coating to create a glossy finish. Delicate materials such as silk, mohair, jacquard, fine jersey knits and exclusive leather gently soften the stark 80's vibe, ready to carry these designs well into the trends of the coming seasons.
Once again, Phobia offers the top style challenge of the season, presenting unique 80’s-style fashion with a 21st century lifespan.
